Behind the blend: Ardray at the Whisky Show
We recently attended the Whisky Show in London - the UK’s biggest whisky festival of the year - and invited guests to explore the art of blending across cultures.
Throughout the weekend, we hosted guided whisky tastings for guests, offered an exclusive whisky show cocktail and had a special appearance from our Chief Blenders, Dr. Calum Fraser and Shinji Fukuyo.
The Ardray stand became a place of conversation and connection, where whisky lovers from around the world gathered to share their impressions, exchange stories and appreciate the exquisite balance behind each pour. Some arrived as long-time admirers of Ardray, while others discovered it for the very first time.
Conversations flowed alongside each Ardray pour. Whisky Show visitors described Ardray as “smooth”, “complex”, “graceful”, “easy to drink” and even “surprising”.
Guests enjoyed our exclusive whisky show cocktail developed in collaboration with our friends at Nauticus Bar in Edinburgh. The Ardray Sundowner is a serve that’s balanced yet complex in every sip – just like Ardray itself.
Here’s how to make the exquisite whisky cocktail at home:
- 50ml Ardray
- 15ml Oloroso Sherry
- 12.5ml Calendula ‘honey’
- 2.5ml Absinthe
Gently stir all ingredients together and then savour in a rocks glass.
For us, the Whisky Show was a celebration of connection, flavour and the shared language of great whisky, just as Dr. Calum Fraser and Shinji Fukuyo
imagined.
“We have very much worked together with Shinji and his team on the precision of how we bring the individual single malts and individual single grains together in order to create something that’s truly beyond the sum of its individual parts.”
Dr. Calum Fraser
